Summary

The Assistant Accounting Manager is responsible for completing, coordinating, and directing accounting and financial activities including planning, procurement, and investments for all or part of the organization

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience
  • Complex Problem Solving-Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Problem Sensitivity-The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
  • Critical Thinking-Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Active Listening-Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Comprehension-The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, and to understand information and ideas presented through oral communication
  • Communication -The ability to effectively communicate information and ideas orally and in writing so that others understand
  • Deductive Reasoning-The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Inductive Reasoning-The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Judgment & Decision Making-Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Active Learning-Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Coordination-Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions
  • Category Flexibility-The ability to generate or use different sets of rules for combining or grouping things in different ways
  • Management of Financial Resources-Determining how money will be spent to get the work done and accounting for these expenditures
  • Administration & Management-Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Economics & Accounting-Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Mathematics-Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Law & Government-Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Customer & Personal Service-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Education & Training-Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Motivated & Work Ethic-Highly motivated and self-directed work ethic
  • Productive & Organized-Productive and organized in a remote work environment

    Responsibilities
    • Perform month-end and prepare financial information for review by Accounting Manager
    • Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies
    • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
    • Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes
    • Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures
    • Monitor financial activities and details such as reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
    • Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities
    • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting
    • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed
    • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions
    • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources
    • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations
    • Perform tax planning work
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
