UnitedHealthcare (UHC Accounting and Controls Team) is seeking an MBA/MSF Intern to join the segment's Controllership team. This position will be a part of the financial reporting team and will engage directly teams from across the enterprise, including E&I, M&R, C&S and Global controllership and finance teams while supporting the financial close and internal (segment) reporting processes. A successful applicant will demonstrate ability to support accounting and reporting for the month end processes, understand applicable accounting rules and regulations, drive improvements, support business owners and other customers, including very senior leaders through the preparation of financial reporting packages and thoughtful analysis. Candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work with large amounts of data while working collaboratively in active partnership with other accounting and financial planning and analysis (FP&A teams). This position will have direct exposure to UHC leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Prepare, review or consolidate forecast models including development of forecast inputs
  • Coordinate with CFOs or other key stakeholders on variance commentary for forecast and month end
  • Prepare and review reporting summaries for forecasting and month end reporting packages
  • Collaborate with other functional areas across UHC Finance/Controllership (e.g.Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllership, Medical Reserving, SG&A and UHG Corporate Finance and Accounting)
  • Prepare ad-hoc requests as necessary for leadership
  • Demonstrate flexibility to seamlessly reprioritize and pivot on deliverables
  • Own and communicate forecast process and timelines to senior leadership and matrix partners
  • Complete enhanced key performance metric analysis or ROI analysis to drive and prioritize growth
  • Provide guidance and development to partners

    Required Qualifications:


    • Current enrollment in a finance or accounting related graduate degree program (MBA or MSF preferred) with a graduation date no later than June 2024
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Experience working in dynamic team environment
    • Ability to work autonomously and problem solve with little direction
    • Demonstrated experience of consistently delivering results
    • Demonstrated aptitude to learn and institute new processes
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)




      Preferred Qualifications:


      • 3-5 years of experience as a financial analyst or related position
      • Accounting and controls experience
      • Experience with P&L management
      • Financial planning & analysis experience
      • Healthcare or insurance industry experience
      • Oracle Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials
      • CPA

        Colorado, Connecticut, New York and Nevada residents only: The hourly range for residents is $31.78 to $56.88.
