Job Description:

A health plan in Florida is actively seeking an experienced and team-oriented professional to join their staff as their new Controller (Insurance). In this role, the Controller (Insurance) will be responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly internal financial statements and supplementary reports for management and the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

The Controller (Insurance):

• 
  
• Oversees the resolution of all GAAP accounting issues, including research, documentation, and implementation of new accounting pronouncements and requirements
  
• Coordinates the annual external audit
  
• Completes, in accordance with SAP, all premium, membership, utilization, reinsurance, and medical claims related pages of the quarterly and annual statements
  
• Directs the work activities of staff in the department
  
• Recommends and implements systems necessary to support the administration of selling expenses
  
• Oversees financial accounting, reconciling and reporting for all non-standard provider and partner relationships
  
• Manages all pharmacy and pharmacy-related accounting
  
• Oversees all Finance-related operational functions
  
  Qualifications
  
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
    
  • 6-10+ years of experience
    
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
    
  • Progressively responsible experiences in accounting
    
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    
    Desired skills
    
    
    • 
      
    • Master's degree
      
    • Proven track record within a managed care / healthcare environment and accounting experience with multiple, discrete lines-of-business
      
    • CPA or CMA
