Job Description:
Overview:Involves specialized accounting work requiring a sound
knowledge of established banking procedures, methods and accounting
practices. Specific emphasis given to being able to handle various
software applications and data bases as they relate to the
financial and management reports in addition to serving as the
primary backup to the controller.Principal Duties &
Responsibilities:Independently manage day-to-day accounting
operations and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in
place for every critical operation.Insures the identification,
investigation and correction/analysis of mis posted, misclassified
or unidentified general ledger entries.Monitor and utilize
technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process
without sacrificing accuracy and accountability.Analyzes problems,
identifying alternative solutions and implementing recommendations
for resolution.Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year-end
close.Oversight and preparation of all monthly balance sheet
account reconciliations.Advises staff regarding the handling of
non-routine reporting transactions.Handle all personnel issues
relating to direct and indirect staff - including, but not limited
to annual reviews, establishment of goals and objectives and
overall professional development.Assists other departments in
researching noted errors or questionable entries to ensure the
accuracy of the report results.Serve as the primary resource for
data requests from tax, audit and banking partners.Handle all ad
hoc field and departmental support and informational
requests.Support Controller with special projects and workflow
process improvements.Qualifications:5-7 years of relevant
accounting experience in Banking or Financial Company.5-7 years of
financial leadership experience, including leadership
skills.Demonstrated bank accounting, bookkeeping and bank financial
analysis reporting, including preparation of bank regulatory call
reports and knowledge of bank internal controls.Extensive knowledge
of Excel software, specifically spreadsheet formulas and macro
creation and use.Knowledge of accounting applications, including
but not limited to general ledger, fixed asset, and accounts
payable modules.Demonstrated ability to systematically consider
relative costs and benefits of potential actions; critically
analyze related variables; and logically apply reasoning when
selecting goals and making plans.Demonstrated use of communication
to understand and correctly interpret information and ideas
presented through non-verbal, verbal and written modes as well as
to convey information and ideas professionally to diverse
individuals and groups through presentation of words, actions, and
documentation.Demonstrated use of accounting principles/practices,
financial market/banking analysis and succinct/accurate reporting
of financial data.Excellent presentation skills.Ability to take
proactive steps in identifying potential risks and managing
problems.CPA designation required.Education:Bachelors degree in
