The Graphic Designer processes and creates digital and hand-rendered graphic images for output to film, hard copy, multi-image or large format media. The incumbent oversees the printing of produced materials to multiple internal and external output services. Moreover, this employee maintains the inventory of expandable materials while also monitoring industry trends.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the design and development of ads, brochures, posters, signage, and other printed materials for University publication and distribution.
  • Works with a wide range of media and uses graphic design software.
  • Thinks creatively and develops new design concepts, graphics, and layouts.
  • Prepares rough drafts and presents creative ideas.
  • Designs and creates departmental, faculty, and staff webpages.
  • Recommends and supplies digital photographic files for publications and websites.
  • Performs digital videotape transfer and off-line editing for faculty and staff materials.
  • Converts video to digital format and produces video clips to be used in different publications or presentations.
  • Amends final designs for comments and obtains final approval.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

      DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM (specific to Miami Hurricane Football)

      Department Specific Functions

      Miami Hurricanes Football is seeking a talented, innovative and versatile designer to create visual content for one of the most iconic brands in collegiate athletics. The Creative Designer supports the recruiting, visual, print and digital initiatives of the program through the design and layout of various creative elements, including but not limited to recruiting graphics, mailers, print materials, invites, social media graphics, website graphics, camp materials, apparel design, official and unofficial visit materials.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Work with the Creative Director to conceptualize, design and produce traditional, digital graphic materials for the football program.
      • Assist with photo shoots for prospective student-athletes
      • Help manage the football program's creative assets and files
      • Assist with the organization of assignments and creative development of interns
      • Ensure that visual content is delivered to clients at sufficiently high speed and quality.
      • Working knowledge of and adherence to all University, ACC and NCAA rules and regulations
      • Ability to work events, nights, weekends and holidays.
      • Other duties as assigned by the Creative Director and/or the Recruiting Department.

        Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
        • Strong attention to detail.
        • Ability to work under time constraints and meet assigned deadlines.
        • Proficient in the creation of both online and print design.
        • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite products, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, LightRoom, After Effects
        • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills.

          Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
          • Portfolio that represents a diverse variety of projects and skill sets
          • Experience with content management systems.
