We are looking for talented and passionate engineers to join our
Compression Systems Engineering team. We're seeking a structures
engineer to provide technical & analytical support for structures
on commercial fan and compressor modules, with responsibility for
the durability and structural integrity of engine components.
Specific structural engineering specialties may include static and
dynamic stress analysis of airfoils, rotors, and cases, and fatigue
and fracture mechanics assessments. Analyses may include both
classical methods and detailed FEA.
A structures engineer will be expected and empowered to
independently execute discrete tasks with strategic guidance from
senior engineers, supporting tasks from preliminary design through
engine development, validation, certification, manufacturing and
operational service; participate on multi-discipline teams to
provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for
durability, performance, cost and weight; and cover validation
testing (engine & rig) and data-reduction.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently and with assistance from experts perform structural
analysis of components via hand calculations and finite element
analysis.
Contribute to teams to deliver results with cross-functional
integration.
Utilize analysis results to provide recommendations/proposals to
the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Work closely with all engineering disciplines on the IPT to
identify balanced solutions to technical tasks.
Utilize latest P&W structural best practices and analytical
tools.
Provide documentation of analyses in the form of formal reports and
presentations for management and customers.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Engineering, Technology or
Math
2+ years of engineering, aerospace, lab or research experience
US Citizenship or US Persons required due to government
contracts.
Travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace
Engineering
Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace
Engineering
Proficiency in structural finite element methods.
Focus on results and the ability to drive tasks to completion.
Demonstrated success working effectively in fast-paced, team
environment.
Demonstrated success working independently to accomplish project
goals.
Demonstrated experience leveraging excellent written and oral
communication skills required to convey results and ideas
effectively to drive business.
Demonstrated experience working well within a team and possessing a
positive attitude toward meeting individual and group
commitments.
Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
