Job Designation

The Development Engineer (Retrofit, Modification & Upgrade) will provide support to the Aftermarket Division in delivering retrofit, modification, upgrade, MRO smart scoping and repair scheme (RMU++) opportunities across Meggitt product lines. To achieve this, the Development Engineer will be responsible for the technical aspects of: identifying; harvesting; reviewing; validation and management of ideas through the RMU process to customer launch. Will work closely with Strategic Business Unit Engineering teams and provide technical guidance relative to the aftermarket requirements to achieve the targets set within the scope of the RMU++ business objectives. Will be the technical lead working within our RMU Center of Excellence in Miami on the development of opportunities on both Meggitt & competitor products. The RMU++ process will require a close working relationship with the RMU Program Manager, SBU Engineering, SBU PLM Process Manager and also many other facets of the business including S&M, and Contracts & Customer Support. The role will include supporting the construction of business plans and collation of marketing data.

Job Core Responsibilities

* Identify retrofit, modification and upgrade opportunities through due diligence to in-service issues, MRO feedback, and customer concerns regarding Meggitt & competitor products

* Partner with site SBU Engineering Teams to deliver technically feasible studies and develop options and provide aftermarket technical oversight and context

* Act as the aftermarket technical lead within our RMU COE in Miami to deliver technically feasible solutions

* Ensure that the chosen technical solution is implemented, monitoring progress and escalating to Engineering when programs slip

* Understand the business case & value proposition for each opportunity

* Establish the engineering costs for the RMU++ ideas, providing input to the Commercial team to gain Commercial Committee approval of any opportunity

* Routine monitoring of general progress on all of the RMU++ ideas in development

* Provide technical advice and the application of in-service knowledge to the opportunities to ensure that the aftermarket considerations are fully reflected in any potential solution

* Routine reporting on the progress of technical aspects of RMU activity

* Travel to Meggitt SBU, MRO and customer sites will be a minimum expectation

* Provide engineering expertise to a variety of disciplines in support of business objectives

* Apply technical knowledge in support of design and development of new or improved company products

* Lead assigned projects and perform task related to planning, provding personnel direction, project implementation and the coordination of all related inter-organizations

* Represent the organization in significant specialized technical matters

* Provide interactions with senior technical personnel of other company, customer, and/or supplier organizations coordinating activities across these organizational lines

* Develop solutions to complex problems requiring the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

* Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing, or combination of relevant education and work experience

* 5+ year experience in aftermarket support preferred

* Aerospace industry experience required

* Detailed product knowledge and understanding of in-service aircraft and engine operations, plus, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) practices

* Demonstrated technical expertise in an MRO development role and/or delivering retrofit, modification, and upgrade type opportunities to solution launch

* Excellent project management, planning, and organization skills

* Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and facilitate projects

* Must be able to delegate tasks, drive activities to completion, take responsibility, and make effective decisions

* Ability to create and interpret Engineering drawings/documentation

* Flexible and committed to put in the effort to deliver on commitments

* Ability to analyze data and think logically to present solutions

* Ability to work with all levels of management to resolve issues and drive through solutions to meet customer expectations

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,PowerPoint)

* ACAS/FlightGlobal, MSG-3, SalesForce, and MS Project preferred

* Travel required up to 25%

* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
