SummaryDevelops and implements system-wide strategies to reduce the
risk of health-care associated infections and communicable diseases
in patient, staff, and visitors. Coordinates and supervises
activities to implement strategies. Serves as a resource to and
collaborates with others to advance the hospital mission and
vision. Develops, implements, and evaluates program and
departmental goals that coincide with the hospital goals on a
yearly basis. Responsible for departmental performance improvement
process including the preparation, analysis, and submission of
required statistical and outcome reports on a regularly schedule
basis.Job Specific Duties* Develops, implements, and evaluates
departmental goals that align with the hospital goals on a yearly
basis, maintains a budget, and staffing plan that meets
organizational needs.* Serves as facilitator for Infection Control
Committee activities, meetings, minutes, and reports.* Manages the
daily departmental operations. Oversees and directly supervises
department staff, including orientation, training, and evaluation
within established guidelines.* Provides supervision and
coordination of all activities for surveillance and control of
health-care associated infections in patients, visitors, and
staff.* Compiles statistical reports and submits to Infection
Prevention and Control Committee and appropriate departments.*
Develops, reviews, and revises infection prevention and control
policies and procedures in conjunction with departmental directors.
Assures the facility's compliance with state and federal
regulations related to infection prevention and control.*
Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special
projects both internal and external to the organization, including
Environment of Care and Employee Health.* Complies with all
standards for safety, risk management, infection prevention and
control as required by policies and procedures and
accreditation/enforcement agencies.* Leads department to establish
hospital standards, provide training, and provide best practice to
meet the needs of internal and external customers.* Provides
consultation to Employee Health for measures to reduce infection
risks for staff and assists with assessment and follow-up of
communicable disease, blood, and body fluid exposures.*
Participates in Environment of Care activities including
coordination and participation in weekly team rounds, weekly
planning meetings during construction/renovation activities, and
provision of Infection Control Risk Assessments for
construction/renovation projects.* Assists Pharmacy with antibiotic
review activities.#CA-JB#INDHPQualificationsMinimum Job
Requirements* Bachelor's Degree Clinical Field of Practice *
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC)* 5 years of
clinical hospital experience* 3 years of supervisory experience* 2
years of Infection Prevention and Control experienceKnowledge,
Skills, and Abilities* Master's Degree in Public Health, Nursing,
or related field preferred.* Statistics skills including working
knowledge of Microsoft Office.* Understanding and utilization of
effective adult learning principles.* Ability to develop rapport
and maintain regular in-person communication with bedside staff.*
Prepare and deliver relevant and current presentations for a
variety of committees, councils, and other forums.* Current
knowledge of regulatory requirements, recommendations and standards
of OSHA, Florida State Department of Health, CDC, and DNV.* Ability
to make decisions relative to the surveillance, prevention, and
control of infections and blood-borne pathogens.* Excellent
interpersonal skills and able to relate cooperatively and
constructively with clients and co-workers.* Excellent written and
verbal communication.* Ability to use logical and scientific
thinking to interpret technical data and solve a broad range of
problems.* Ability to use standard mathematical techniques to
budget and provide productivity assessments.* Ability to interpret,
adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.* Effectively
monitor and develop the abilities of team members.* Able to
maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Job:
