The primary responsibility of an Assistant Project Manager is to t rain for Project Manager position. Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the overall planning, scheduling and administration of an assigned project. May be assigned responsibility for specific aspects of a project. Perform all essential functions and responsibilities in conjunction with the company's values and beliefs in alignment with Fisk Electric's policies so that the construction process and building are completed to the client's full satisfaction and at the Company's expected levels of safety, quality and profitability.
Essential Functions And Duties Of The Position1 - Project Startup and Closeout

• Familiarize yourself with owner contract
• Review budgets and scopes with project manager
• Assist with contract buyout in accordance with corporate policy within 90 days
• Assist with development of site specific safety program
• Assist with development of project specific quality program
• Assist with development of site logistics plan
• Assist with development of master project schedule/identification of critical issues and milestones
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor selection
• Assist in establishing project procedures and performance standards
• Assist with development of startup checklist
• Coordinate mobilization
• Assist with and monitor permit process
• Prepare closeout log
• Participate in and document punch list process
• Coordinate and document owner training
• Prepare O&M manuals and warranties
• Compile as-built drawings
• Coordinate transfer of attic stock
• Complete subcontractor and vendor closeout
• Assist in demobilizing site2 - Forecasting and Planning
  • Assist with managing project costs relative to budget
  • Manage schedule updates
  • Constructively participate in project planning meetings
  • Help identify risks that could affect cost, schedule, or owner satisfaction
  • Assist with preparation of monthly project status reports and executive summaries3 - Expedite Materials and Ensure Information Flow
    • Strategize with superintendent
    • Ensure RFI process is properly administered
    • Ensure submittal process is properly administered
    • Coordinate construction of mock-ups
    • Constructively participate in job site meetings
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials
    • Ensure materials stored off site are properly monitored
    • Ensure delivered materials are properly verified
    • Ensure preparatory meetings are coordinated and documented
    • Review coordination drawings
    • Coordinate and/or conduct quality control inspections4 -Document Control and Project Administration
      • Help ensure that safety is properly incorporated into project planning and execution
      • Assist project manager and project superintendent with field management of project
      • Assist with problem resolution in a manner that benefits the project, Fisk Electric, and owner
      • Help ensure project is built in compliance with contract
      • Help ensure project is on or ahead of schedule and within or under budget
      • Assist with management and safeguarding corporate assets assigned to the project
      • Ensure compliance with project specific safety and quality programs
      • Establish record and permit sets of documents
      • Manage project document logs
      • Ensure document revisions are properly posted
      • Ensure accessibility of shop drawings and submittals
      • Create, distribute, and expedite sub response of RFPs
      • Assist with subcontractor and vendor insurance and bond agreements
      • Process progress photos
      • Assist in preparation of owner change requests
      • Assist with preparation of project status reports
      • Assist with quantity reporting
      • Ensure electronic archive files are properly maintained5 - Contract Management
        • Work with risk management to evaluate subcontractor's financial suitability/insurance compliance
        • Prepare subcontracts/purchase orders
        • Assist with management of subcontractor change order process
        • Assist with management of owner change orders
        • Review and recommend approval of vendor pay applications
        • Assist with preparation of owner payment application within the terms of the contract

                Education/Experience Requires a four (4) year Building Construction or Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience. Previous construction and/or crafts experience gained through internship or co-op assignments desirable. Basic knowledge of management practices and the ability to organize, a plus. Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts and cost coding systems important. First aid certification, a plus.
                Physical DemandsThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On occasion, it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of 25 lbs., walk over uneven or unpaved ground to reach a worksite in construction zones. This position may be required to perform a variety of construction tasks in all areas and aspects of the construction project - including scaffold or platform work, confined spaces and exposure to outside elements. If your position requires you to enter the field it is mandatory that you wear approved personal protective equipment. This position may be required to work schedules which may include shift work, such as: day shift, swing shift, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend shifts. This position may also require occasional travel as necessary.
