The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is currently seeking a Director, Research Support for the Miami Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). The Director, Research Support oversees research and grant activities within the CFAR with the goals of maintaining financial solvency and academic growth. Moreover, an employee in this position serves as a mentor to the CFAR management and staff on issues of research funding. -CORE JOB FUNCTIONS -
Develops reports summarizing research activity within the department on a regular basis.
Maintains current knowledge of institutional and external policies and procedures to ensure -compliance.
Serves as liaison to federal agencies and other funding sources.
Creates reports detailing grant spending and ensures that investigators are appropriately -using funding.
Oversees research initiatives and database personnel.
Monitors projects to ensure positive project evaluations, future sustainability, and benefits.
Reviews monthly institutional reports of research accounts and works with investigators to resolve discrepancies.
Screens department budget, assists in the assignment of expenditures, and identifies areas of opportunity for cost-saving.
Participates in various University research councils, committees, and research organizations.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls
within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are -trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONSProvides overall support for all Miami CFAR programs.Coordinates the CFAR meetings, travel itineraries of invited researchers, including airline, hotel accommodations, and ground transportation.Coordinates CFAR special projects, major events, and the CFAR annual international symposium.Responsible for coordination and preparation of CFAR's Progress Reports and the CFAR's grant renewal application.Submits CFAR related supplemental grants and documents to NIH.Assists with managing the development of supplemental projects within CFAR. Ensures that milestones in the CFAR grant are achieved as scheduled. Coordinates the activities related to the different projects and developmental awards.Assists CFAR Principal Investigator with reports on progress of milestones for the CFAR.Serve as liaison between CFAR PI, Core Directors of the CFAR, department administration, and other University operational and administrative units. Develops, manages, and guides the CFAR Administrative Assistant with all CFAR website content.Works closely with the department administration in affairs of CFAR grant, and CFAR supplemental awards.Assists in monitoring expenditure and compliance of all CFAR accounts in accordance with ORA, CFAR, and NIH guidelines. Reviews monthly reconciliations of all CFAR accounts.Servers as the effort coordinator across all CFAR projects. Oversees CFAR Travel Card expenses, and CFAR travel reimbursements for conferences and trainings.Ensures reimbursement is provided within appropriate timeframes.Analyzes incoming correspondence and projects in order to determine their significance and disseminate as appropriate.Serves as liaison to NIH CFAR program office, UM leadership and CFAR Director to advance the mission of the CFAR.Identifies redundancies, opportunities for collaborations, opportunities for resource sharing (human capital and supplies) for the CFAR.Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of operational systems, processes, and communications with internal and external stakeholders in support of the advancement of the CFAR.Plays significant role in long-term planning geared toward operational excellence for the CFAR.Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in relevant fieldFive years of relevant work experience required.
