Job Description:
SUMMARYHone your management skills by leading talented staff at
the world's #1 STEAM education camp. Camp Directors don't need
experience building robots or coding video games. We're looking for
natural leaders and problem solvers with organizational skills. You
will help cultivate an atmosphere of inclusion-one that values
diversity and is encouraging of unique perspectives.The Camp
Director is the onsite representative of iD, responsible for
fostering a FUN and SAFE environment in which students are able to
learn new technology and think creatively! With the support and
guidance of a nationwide team, the Director leads a team of
instructors in the day-to-day program operations. In addition to
maintaining the satisfaction of all students, parents, staff and
university contacts, the Director will act as the Health Care
Administrator and will dispense all camper medications and perform
camper health assessments. As the onsite staff supervisor, the
Director will coach every staff member in developing and
demonstrating professional behaviors. At locations with an
overnight program, the Director is required to stay on
campus.PAYThe pay for this position varies by work location and
camp size:
- California: $1,350 - $1,450/week
- Colorado: $1,000 - $1,100/week
- New York: $1,225 -$1,325/week
- Seattle: $1,625/week for overnight schedule
- Other Washington locations: $1,375/week
- Other locations: To be discussed in interviewCERTIFICATION AND
TRAINING
- Attend in-person and online Regional Staff Trainings
- Lead weekend onsite orientation session
- Complete ALL paperwork and training requirements
- Become acquainted with all courses, products, and software
- May be required to be fingerprinted (based on
location)ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOBAdministrative &
Supervisory:
- Develop staff leadership skills using performance management
coaching techniques taught at Regional Staff Training
- Oversee and participate in logistics of location set-up,
tear-down and product inventory/assessment - ability to lift 50
lbs
- Plan and execute an organized check-in each session
- Work with clients to address and resolve any concerns
- Plan, organize, and participate in indoor and outdoor
activities for students; ensure all activities are appropriate,
fun, and adequately supervised
- Maintain positive staff and student morale
- Additional duties as needed and assigned by your Regional
Manager
- Ensure that Instructors and students are meeting curriculum
goals
- Conduct periodic performance reviews of staff members
- Apply behavior management techniques to enforce rules and
safety regulations
- Ensure Instructors meet critical deadlines on diplomas, project
completion, and Friday student presentations
- Create and implement work schedules, roles and responsibilities
for staff
- Hold routine meetings to address and resolve staff
concerns
- Act as an emergency substitute for sick/absent Instructor
- Be continuously available to staff and students while on
duty
- Escort students to and from dining halls - traveling up to 1
mileHealth, Safety, & First-Aid:
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times for
students and staff
- Ensure proper supervision is occurring at all times, including
but not limited to: upholding ratios, conducting face counts, and
managing risk and student behavior during activities and street
crossing
- Know and uphold iD Tech's safety policies and procedures
- Execute an organized camper medication check-in and check-out
each session
- Store and dispense camper medications with 100% accuracy
- Maintain accurate, up to date medications and health log
- Respond to and document critical incidents - must have good
hearing & eyesight, mobility, and be able to operate emergency
exits
- Perform CPR and First AidQUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCEPrevious camp or managerial experience is required. Camp
Directors must demonstrate impeccable judgment, strong
organizational skills, and be able to communicate effectively via
email, cell phone, and hand-written documents. The ideal candidate
will demonstrate proficiency in Google Workspace (Google
Drive/Docs/Sheets). In addition, the candidate must have a
background working with kids and teens. Knowledge of computer
networking and/or curriculum software is a plus. The ideal
candidate would have a college degree in a related field. Must be
certified in Adult & Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED prior to the first
day of work. Some jurisdictions require Directors to be at least 25
years old (by the start of camp). Based on work location,
candidates may be required to provide proof of vaccinations,
including for COVID-19.
