Overview
The Dental Director is a licensed physician of dentistry who adheres to the highest standards of evidence based medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times. This position will lead and have oversight for dentalservices provided at the HCD Primary Care Clinics as well as establishing protocols and procedures to ensure quality of care for all patients.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

• 
  
• Participates as a member of clinic senior leadership team along with senior executive team.
  
• Develop and guide strategic development and expansion of dental practices, including consideration of new sites, services, and treatment modalities.
  
• Develop own clinical practice on a limited basis within one of the clinic sites.
  
• Collaborate with other clinic leaders in establishing and reaching targets for clinical capacity and utilization and ensure financial success of the department.
  
• Lead the oral health/dentistry component with a focus on population health management and integration of all health care services.
  
• Engage and direct peer review activities to ensure that standards of care are met and evidence based treatment is provided.
  
• Provide clinical mentoring and support to staff in complex cases and treatment plans for all dental staff.
  
• Mentor a team of "on-site dental directors" in their local site leadership activities.
  
• Develop "grand rounds" dental program for the on-going education and training of dental staff.
  
• Participate in key committees, e.g., Dental QI, Performance Improvement, Infection Control, etc.
  
• Recruit and retain new clinic dental providers.
  
• Collaborate with finance and administrative departments to optimize clinic purchasing power and quality in securing dental equipment and dental laboratory services and supplies.
  
• Represent dental clinic at state and national forums and at public facing activities that support the credibility and brand of the agency.
  
• Utilize a Meaningful Use (MU) certified electronic health platform to document and manage patient information and communicate with other team members.
  
  Qualifications
  Education: DDS or DMD degree from accredited dental school is required.
  Experience: Minimum of five years of dentistry experience, practice in community or public health setting preferable. Demonstrated management and leadership expertise. Dental Director
  Certification:Health Care District Primary Care Clinics providers must be licensed and registered as a DDS or DMD in the State of Florida. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  Licensure:Unrestricted license from the Florida Medical Board.
  Registrations:Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration including schedules: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5.
