Echocardiographer, Clinic for the City Of Miami Fire, PT W/ Ben, Days, Mon-Fri - Miami, FloridaDescription Position Summary: Echo cardiographer performs cardiac sonograms using complex equipment for specialized and/or technically difficult examinations.Duties & Responsibilities: Acquires pertinent clinical information from patient's chart and/or computer and maintains safety standards particular to the age-specific needs of the patient. Brings patient in and out of examination room. Cleans examination room after each patient and adheres to infection Control Policies and Procedures, including Universal Precautions. Develops films as needed. Explains to patient and/or nurse the correct prep for an exam and ensures that it agrees with their life cycle and safety requirement. Gives preliminary impression to physicians after completion of an exam when report is not in computer. Maintains CPR certification. Performs other related work as assigned. Performs portable exam. Performs related duties as needed (answer phones, cover the desk, etc.). Possesses and maintains understanding of the principles of growth and development as they pertain to patients in all age groups. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the information needed to identify the patient's requirements. Records complete procedure in computer (HIS System) and records it on the daily log along with the technician's initials. Reports equipment malfunction to supervisor. Reviews CQI Quarterly Report in Section Meeting and contributes ideas for continuous quality improvement. Scans patients and maintains all safety precautions while administering treatments in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient. Sets necessary equipment and supplies needed when a special procedure is to be done. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience: Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.Education: Graduation form an accredited Cardiac Sonography program is required.License Certification: ARDMS certification is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.Knowledge Skill Abilities: Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area.Physical Demands: Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers. Exposure to various environments such as: communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also be exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X-Ray, chemical exposures and other potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
