Pharmacy Procurement Coordinator, JMH Pharmacy Administration,
FT, Days - Miami, FloridaDescription Position Summary: Pharmacy
Procurement Coordinator is responsible for the purchasing of all
pharmaceutical products for the hospital. Responsibilities requires
strict inventory control measures along with providing the best
pricing in order to maximize savings and staying within the drug
budget for the department/hospital. This position requires
knowledge of medications and is typically filled by a trained
pharmacy technician familiar with 3000 plus line items. Maintains
monthly financial records and reports as necessary. Complies with
the requirements and all the regulatory standards of the 340B
program. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance with
narcotic discrepancies in the automated Omni cell cabinets and
teaching anesthesia personnel and residents how to use the
anesthesia work stations in the OR. Current position has a trained
technician who is also an Omni cell trained administrator who
monitors all utilization of the Omni cell equipment and inventory
levels throughout the hospital. Other responsibilities include
pharmacy technician related duties including preparing IVs and
chemotherapy. Incumbent will serve as the coordinator of the
Hazmat/Decon team for the hospital.Duties & Responsibilities:
Purchasing and procurement of pharmaceuticals in the hospital
including establishing of inventory levels, processing receipt of
shipments and supplies, establishing and maintaining blanket (PO)
purchase orders, utilization and maximization of the 340B
purchasing program, processing of invoices and credits, handling
drug recalls for the department and searching for alternative
supplies during drug shortages, and enrolling in allocation
programs. Processes recalls and pharmaceutical returns. Ensures
proper inventory control of stock and distribution of orders to
other departments in the hospital. Ensures proper supplies so that
the hospital does not run out of critical medication. Assures that
invoices are properly routed for payment and makes sure that there
is a tracking system to pull records during audits. Prepares a
monthly report of all purchases and department distribution of
medications and sends it to accounting and the Director of
Pharmacy. Omni cell duties include the training of anesthesia staff
and residents and monitors narcotic and medication discrepancies in
the Omni cell automated cabinets. Works with IT and handles all
issues with the Omni cell and upgrades as needed. Assists nursing
and medical staff with the Omni cell issues, and teaching staff how
to utilize the equipment and troubleshoot. Handles all bar code
issues with the scanning of medication for administration by
nursing and any Cerner issues as it relates medication not being in
the Cerner formulary so it is recognized by the bar code reader.
Pharmacy Technician duties includes all related pharmacy technician
duties including preparing chemotherapy and IV solutions. Makes
deliveries of medication or when there is a breakdown of equipment,
providing a crisis situation (i.e. anesthesia work stations in the
OR) or when nursing or medical staff can't access medications. If
this position did not require a registered pharmacy technician,
they would not be able to handle medication in the automated
equipment during critical times. Handles pharmacy IT/technology
issues because of the nature of pharmacy being a very technology
intensive department. Assist with computerization, the Omni link
system, Omni cell system, bar code scanning issues, medication
issues relating to Cerner. Coordinates the equipment/IT upgrade in
the pharmacy and throughout the hospital for all Omni cell
equipment and software upgrades. Position is responsible for charge
reconciliation as the charge champion. The position requires a
familiarity with the process of retrieving medications from the
automated Omni cell cabinets, and 95 percent of the pharmacy
charges are generated by the Omni cell technology. Because of this,
the position is naturally inclined to evaluate, assess and review
the charge and crediting of medications and determine the accuracy
of charges and credits as part of the charge reconciliation
process. Performs other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.License
Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhT) is a
plus.Knowledge Skill Abilities: Ability to analyze, organize and
prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with
professional composure. Ability to understand and follow
instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment
Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and
software applications.Physical Demands: Job function is sedentary
in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time.
Function may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to
lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Jobs in this group
are required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such
as: extended use of computers, preparing and analyzing data and
analytics, and other components of a typical office environment.
