Clinical Educator, provides clinical education to patient care
staff. The incumbent is responsible for the needs and assessment,
planning/development, delivery, coordination, and evaluation of a
clinical staff. Develops and oversees services related to the
orientation process and continuing education. Provides support to
the learner community and supports ongoing initiatives.CORE JOB
FUNCTIONS
- Provides education and resources to enhance patient care and
quality outcomes.
- Collaborates with nursing leaders, department of education and
staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of the staff as
assigned.
- Assists staff with educational needs, problem resolution, time
management, and critical thinking skills development.
- Designs, facilitates and assesses learning activities and
curriculum related to clinical competencies,
department/organization policies, regulatory requirements, and the
use of clinical information technologies in collaboration with the
department of education. Implements clinical skills activities
within established clinical and preceptorship models, monitors data
trends, and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance
with quality standards.
- Participates in the development, coordination and delivery of
staff orientation, competency evaluation and education activities
across all shift. Tracks and trends assigned unit certification
compliance.
- Provides ongoing oversight of clinical ladder compliance and
reports any deviation to the department of education.
- Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new
equipment, supplies, and instruments, and coordinates in-service
training and workshops.
- Ensures compliance with all institutional policies and
procedures including mandatory in-service employee health
procedures, federal, state, regulatory and accrediting agencies
standards.
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and
environmental practices
- Maintains professional knowledge by affiliating with
professional and technical organizations, and participating in
applicable continuing education programs, conferences, seminars,
and workshops.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies, procedures, and
safeguards University assets.
- Assist the education department with nursing orientation, nurse
residency program, and unit specific competencies and ongoing
