Technical Specialist

CDI- South Florida Region (on-site)

Job Summary:

The focus of the Technical Specialist is to install, support, and repair CDI Tech products and Services for the restaurant hospitality industry while providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate has experience with point of sale equipment and/or has a strong technical aptitude and a working knowledge of Windows Operating System and has strong phone communications.

What you'll do:

* Set-up, repair, install, and reprogram equipment and/or software at customer location
* Make shipping arrangements for equipment to client site or for repair
* Replace defective parts
* Minor programming of CDI Tech products
* Gain knowledge and basic ability to test AC electrical systems. (Equipment to be provided by CDI)
* Gain knowledge and basic understanding of computer networks
* Gain knowledge and basic understanding of using imaging software
* Extensive local travel is required
* Provide phone support to customers and technicians
* Act as front line support for customer calls and e-mail requests
* Administer minor programming changes on customer systems
* Ability to remote service into customer system
* Update customer support ticket with data into service management system
* Support internal employees when needed
* Escalate unresolved customer issues
* Develop and maintain knowledge base for CDI
* 2nd level escalation for afterhours software & hardware support when assigned

What we need from you:

* 1-3 years in a Customer Technical Support
* Strong customer service skills
* ability to travel across Southern Florida
* Strong phone and technical support skills
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written an oral form
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
* Must have reliable transportation and have the ability and desire to travel locally 90% of the time, with occasional out of town travel
* Timely and accurate preparation of paperwork
* Good electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
* Ability to operate Google Suites. Experience in the installation and troubleshooting of the following operating systems: Windows Server, Windows 7, Windows 10, iOS
* Must be available to work overtime, in the evening, on weekends, and on holidays as business requires
* Must be able to work a rotating schedule for after-hours support of CDI TECH clients
* Due to the nature of this position, employee may be subject to extensive background checks (including fingerprinting) by CDI TECH and/or vendors, as a condition to conduct business on their premises
* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Knowledge of retail Point of Service solutions

Direct Reports: None

Travel Requirements: 90% (Traveling to different client locations in South Florida)

License and Certification Requirements: Valid driver's license

Working Conditions:

Working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
