Job Description:

gpac is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Lawyer. As a Maritime Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients in the maritime industry, including shipowners, shipping companies, marine insurers, and other maritime entities.Responsibilities:

• Providing legal advice and representation to clients in the maritime industry, including shipowners, shipping companies, marine insurers, and other maritime entities
• Drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements related to maritime activities, such as charter parties, bills of lading, marine insurance policies, and salvage contracts
• Representing clients in court or arbitration proceedings related to maritime disputes, such as collisions, groundings, cargo damage claims, and personal injury claims
• Negotiating settlements and mediating disputes on behalf of clients
• Advising clients on environmental regulations and issues related to maritime activities, such as oil spills and pollution prevention
• Keeping up-to-date with changes in maritime laws and regulations, and advising clients accordingly
• Networking with other professionals in the maritime industry, such as shipbuilders, surveyors, and port authoritiesRequirements:
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation (maritime experience is not required)
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime laws and regulations, including IMO conventions, UNCLOS, and SOLAS
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
