Associate Dean for Health Science Programs Summary Barry
University, department is currently seeking an Associate Dean for
Health Sciences. The Associate Dean for Health Sciences provides
academic and administrative leadership support to select
undergraduate and graduate health science chairs and program
directors. The associate dean is a key member of the college's
administrative team (dean, associate deans, dean's office staff
members) and is involved in program development and approval,
outcome assessment, accreditation, financial management, and
faculty evaluation and development. This is a combined
faculty/administrative position and reports to the Associate Dean
of Academic Affairs for the College.
Essential Functions Collaborate with chairs/program directors,
associate deans and dean to implement the strategic plan, mission,
goals and expected outcomes of the College.
Facilitate review/revision and implementation of the strategic
plans, missions, goals and expected outcomes of select
Serve as an advisor to the Dean and Provost on matters of policy
as they relate to assigned programs.
Collaborate with dean, associate deans and department
chairs/program directors to evaluate program financial management,
resource allocation, recruitment plans, instruction and program
Assists the director of business operations in the preparation,
administration, and monitoring of select budget lines.
Supports and encourages inter-professional collaboration in
academic program development, new course and program proposals, and
decision-making among/between faculty, administrators, and
Coordinate completion and submission of required internal and
external reports for select programs (Graduate and Undergraduate
Councils, AAC, professional accrediting bodies, etc).
Oversee and provide support for activities of assigned
committees that support the college's academic mission; participate
and contribute to select committees outside the college as

required by the University and/or regulatory agencies.
Oversee the recruitment, appointment, orientation, development,
mentorship and dismissal of faculty and staff, in collaboration
with select program chairs and directors.
Oversee the evaluation of program faculty and staff.
Develop and maintain effective print and electronic
communication on academic matters within and outside the college,
including periodic and annual reports.
Supervise student transcript review for progression and/or

complaints/grievances prior to an appeal to the dean.
Perform other duties assigned by the dean/associate dean of
academic affairs and represent same in their absence.
Qualifications/Requirements PhD in a health related field
5-8 years of related experience.
Requires high accuracy of project management and efficiency.
Requires high/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Requires high oral and written communication skills to be able
to interact with both internal and external constituents.
