Job Information The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD), one of three interdisciplinary schools in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) at Florida International University (FIU), is looking for exceptional faculty to foster continued growth of its Education programs. By bridging content and pedagogy, SEHD faculty and students are addressing the most complex challenges of the 21st century with groundbreaking research, inspirational teaching, and community engagement. Our faculty are conducting research and teaching students in SEHD departments, centers and institutes, and engaging with interdisciplinary researchers and scholars from colleges across the university, as well as institutional partners locally and globally. Both tenure-track and tenured faculty positions are currently available in SEHD, which is fast becoming a global leader. SEHD faculty work collaboratively across the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, to develop and promote effective practices that lead to well-prepared education professionals, including teachers, counselors, school psychologists, and education scholars. We aim to drive the future of education by disseminating evidence-based practices and influence policies both institutionally and across the nation. SEHD prepares education professionals who will engage on the local, national, and global stage. Undertaking this challenge requires collaborating with local K-12 schools, colleges, businesses and industry, foundations, and national education leaders in order to create an educational landscape that supports all students in achieving their goals. FIU is seeking candidates to join SEHD, holding positions in one of three departments under the College of Arts, Sciences & Education. The SEHD departments include the Department of Teaching & Learning, the Department of Education & Policy Studies, and the Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology. Together, the departments represent a broad range of fields including elementary education, special education, STEM education, counselor education, higher education, educational leadership, school psychology, and several others (see www. Each individual will work collaboratively with faculty in their SEHD department and faculty across CASE to carry out transformative educational research and teaching in their discipline. Successful candidates will be expected to have and maintain a strong research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations, mentoring of undergraduate/graduate researchers), and provide service to their department/college in order to contribute to the college's mission in these domains. Required background includes: - High level of scholarly activity (grant funding, publications, etc.) - Experience conducting and leading research programs - Excellent teaching and mentoring skills - Strong leadership and communication skills Successful candidates will work closely with and be responsible to their department chair and center/institute director.
