Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in computational genomics. Working with Drs. Margaret Pericak-Vance and William K. Scott, the successful candidate will participate in large-scale collaborations examining the genetics of age-related macular degeneration ( AMD ) and glaucoma. These projects include collaborations with investigators at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as participation in the International AMD Genomics Consortium ( IAMDGC ) and NEIGHBORHOOD (glaucoma) consortia. This team of investigators is comprised of molecular geneticists, neurologists, bioinformaticians, and statistical and genetic epidemiologists who work together on human genetic diseases. The qualified candidate will be working on research directed towards identifying environmental factors, genes and the mechanisms that they influence to increase risk and outcomes. Also the candidate will gain experience with next generation sequencing ( NGS ) data analysis.Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in statistical genetics, statistics, genetic epidemiology, or bioinformatics or M.D. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. A bility to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
