About This Position The John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting career opportunity for a Biostatistician. Under the direction of the Analytic Project Manager(s) and Project Principal Investigators, the Biostatistician will provide statistical support for the Genetic Epidemiology Core within the Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. For this position, the Biostatistician is expected to be proficient with statistical software, particularly R or SAS. We work with large genetic data sets, and the individual should be familiar with QC and data analysis as well as final interpretation and presentation. The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to: Formulates analysis plans and writes detailed specifications for analysis of files, consistency checks, tables, and figures. Communicates with clients regarding statistical analysis issues. Interprets analyses and writes statistical sections of study reports. Prepares results for progress reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. Maintains and documents studies databases. Consults with study investigators on planning and specifying statistical analysis.Provides support to resolve barriers to analysis and consults with other methodologists and statisticians. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in a closely related field of study with at least one year of relevant experience. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new software.
