JOB SUMMARY:The Sylvester Cancer Center is seeking a Research Assistant. The incumbent contributes with research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. Further, the Research Assistant performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities.
Trained to perform frequent, basic laboratory techniques, including setting up shipping boxes with required contents and labels
Performs courier services to pick up and drop off materials to different locations on campus.

Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs.

Document and receive lab samples as they come into the Lab.

Communicate enquiries with the study teams; Respond to sponsor/coordinator enquiries and update patient documents in timely manner.

Keep laboratory staff aware of repetitive inquiries at monthly staff meetings

Disseminate research schedule for the following day

Deliver research kits to the phlebotomy locations daily.

Pick up or Drop off research related materials to other Departments and Laboratories on campus.

Data entry: Enter information for data needs into assigned software; If necessary, generate invoices (for billing purpose)

Maintain paper documents daily; contact research team for pick up monthly. Manage laboratory supplies; Order, receive, organize, and store Lab purchases and distribute to research teams correctly

Alerting lab supervisor on low supplies.

Organize new study lab manuals and update existing lab manuals when amendment has occurred. Archive old lab manuals

Orders office and clinical supplies.

Prepare financial forms (IDRs, POs, work orders, check requisitions, etc) for department

Organize Lab databases and keep them up to date and current

Log and calendar of lab equipment and time of inspection. Schedule inspections as needed.

Personnel certifications and keep them up to date

Temperature and other calibrations.

Cross-reference Lab schedule against Research Outlook Calendars and update the Lab Schedule.

General office duties such as answering phone calls and responding to the emails.

Maintain and review chemical inventory, note expiration dates and re-stocking requirements.

High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
