Position Overview Position Overview City Year Miami is seeking talented leaders with knowledge looking to take on some extra responsibility and interested in expanding their impact. Approximately 140 AmeriCorps members will be participating in summer onboarding, beginning as early as July 12th, designed to prepare them excel in their roles in support of meaningful outcomes at a student level. Content Specialists will be responsible for helping to design strong professional development experiences and lead those experiences throughout summer onboarding for cohorts of 1) rising Team Leaders and/or 2) rising AmeriCorps Members. Job Description What You'll Do: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Design and Lead Quality Professional Development for incoming AmeriCorps Members and/or Team Leaders during Summer Onboarding * Partner with the City Year Miami Learning and Development team to determine high leverage learning outcomes based on student achievement and corps member effectiveness data. * Work in partnership with the Learning and Development Team to design high quality sessions around key topics that will support AmeriCorps Member and Team Leader success in their role. understanding of assessments and data, and techniques to improve content-specific culture of achievement and engagement with rigorous content. * Internalize and rehearse sessions with City Year Miami staff and a team of other content-based facilitators. * Lead approximately learning experiences for a group of 15-30 AmeriCorps Members. * Debrief learning experience, incorporating feedback based on session outcomes, AmeriCorps Member learning, and AmeriCorps Member experience. What You'll Bring: Qualities/Skills: * Deep content knowledge for a given grade-level or subject band. * Enthusiasm for learning and continuously improving; receptive to feedback and willing to take risks. * Strong orientation to managing toward vision and goals with a strong record of results. * Strong vision for rigorous adult learning experiences. * Impeccable oral and written communications skills, including follow-up. * Ability to think critically and problem solve and adjust course in a fast-paced environment. * Positive attitude, desire to be a part of a diverse team, and commitment to Teach for America's mission and core values. Salary and Benefits Salary for this position will be paid $18.00 hourly for 20 - 30 hours per week from early July through August * Content Specialist Supporting Team Leader Development: July 6th - July 30th. * Content Specialist Support AmeriCorps Member Development: July 12th or 19th through August 20th. * This temporary position is not benefit eligible. Compensation and Benefits This role will not be eligible for City Year's benefit packages and is contingent upon completion of all satisfactory background checks, verification of your eligibility to work in the United States, and any other documentation that may be required. Your employment with City Year is at will and either party may terminate the employment relationship at any time and for any reason, with or without cause or notice.
