FloridaDescription Position Summary: Physical Therapist 2 is a
clinical specialist that organizes, plans, and administers
rehabilitation and education programs for persons experiencing
physical dysfunction, pain and disability following disease, injury
or loss of boy part in a safe and effective manner to persons of
all ages. Maintains sensitivity to their age-specific needs as they
relate to growth and development.Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluates and treats each patient according to their specific needs
considering diagnosis, age, functional status, and previous medical
history. Performs thorough, appropriate evaluation procedures
specific to patients age. Establishes and implements an effective
physical therapy treatment plan of care and modifies plan as
patient status changes. Administers physical therapy treatment as
established in the therapy plan of care based on the Guide to
Physical Therapist Practice. Incorporates the patients
recreational/leisure activities into the overall plan of care.
Maintains sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of the patient
while explaining, coaching, and reassuring the patient and his/her
family on the proper techniques of therapeutic exercise.
Participates as an active team member, attending rounds and family
conferences interacting and reporting in a professional organized
manner and working as part of the team. Develops/prepares and
instructs patients and/or caregivers in age-specific patient
education materials and/or classes. Accurately measures, orders and
performs check out of wheelchairs and other physical therapy
equipment for patient use in a timely and cost conscious manner
acknowledging future growth and/or physical changes. Documents
patient evaluation, daily progress notes, patient care plans,
weekly progress notes in the medical record, on appropriate forms
in the established time frame. Completes daily charges for assigned
patients by the end of the workday. Demonstrates competence in the
safe and effective use of therapeutic equipment. Acts in a teaching
capacity as a clinical expert to new and/or rotating staff
therapists and interns. Coordinates the intern clinical education
experience in the specialty area and provides direct supervision as
necessary. Coordinates in-service education addressing age and
diagnostic-specific needs. Assists Manager in the overall function
of the department in keeping appropriate licensure and
accreditation requirements, e.g. TJC, HRS. Directly supervises
clinical staff in provision of patient care services including
content of age specific treatment programs, therapeutic
relationships, oral and constructive feedback. Evaluates referrals
for appropriateness and assigns staff. Arranges for provision of
patient services in the absence of staff from the area. Provides
input on performance evaluations of staff in specialty area.
Attends departmental and supervisory meetings. Identifies problems
and issues affecting programs within the department and assists in
planning, implementing and evaluating departmental goals and
programs. Assists Managers in identifying ways to improve the
quality of services provided by specialty area. Performs medical
record audits, both hospital and departmental, to evaluate quality
and timeliness of documentation. Serves as department resource
person to PT staff and other health professionals in planning
quality programs for all age groups. Represents the PT Department
to administration and other departments as assigned by or during
the absence of Managers. Acts as liaison between PT staff and other
hospital departments. Represents department and JMH at professional
and related meetings and conferences. Coordinates and prioritizes
own time in relationship to overlapping demands of supervisory
responsibilities, patient treatment, teaching and other assigned
duties. Follows and performs all related unit specific policies and
procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency checklist.
Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Demonstrates
behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion,
Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related
job duties as assigned. Performs additional advanced job duties as
deemed by Managers.QualificationsExperience: Generally requires 3
to 5 years of related experience.Education: Bachelors degree in
Physical Therapy and completion of a required internship program
are required.License Certification: Valid Florida license as a
Physical Therapist required. American Heart Association (AHA).
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
with at least 6 months validity required.Knowledge Skill Abilities:
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while
meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in
both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and
stressful situations with critical thinking and professional
composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability
to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in
use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must
meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational
skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the
nursing area.Physical Demands: Job function requires extended
standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to
50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds
with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require
frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended

to function in a fast paced environment with occasional high
pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction

Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with
occasional outdoor exposures. Exposure to various environments such
as: communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations
and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office
environment. May also be exposed to needle sticks, airborne
infections, medical gases, X-Ray, chemical exposures and other
potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
