Distributors, -a CRH company, supplies and distributes aggregate
materials such as granite, river gravel, limestone, natural sand,
and more. This rail served aggregate distribution network covers
Florida, Southern Mississippi, South Carolina, and Alabama.
Position OverviewEmployee must be able plan and conduct daily job
and safety briefings. Brief and assign daily tasks to employees.
Must lead from the front and will be required to work alongside
subordinates. Must be able to work outdoors and in various weather
conditions. Fosters teamwork, positive work environment and overall
safety of yourself and others.Key Responsibilities (Essential
Duties and Functions)Serves as front line supervisor to rail crew
members. -Evaluates performance of subordinates.Administers
corrective action to subordinatesReviews and edits hours for
payroll and hours of service reporting.Assists Area Manager in
development of terminal personnel.Coordinate activities of workers
engaged in makeup and breakup of trains and switching in-bound and
outbound traffic in yard.Review train schedules, switch orders and
observe traffic movement in yard to determine which tracks can be
made available to accommodate inbound and outbound
traffic.Coordinate routing of inbound and outbound traffic to
specific tracks.Review shipping records indicating material to be
loaded and/or unloaded, tonnage, type of carrier and planned
routes.Provide instruction concerning switching of cars, makeup and
breakup of trains and routing of inbound and outbound traffic to
ensure safe and efficient conduct of yard activities.Calculate
labor and equipment needs.Work with Area Manager to establish work
schedules, goals and assignments.Set up and adjust machines and
equipment.Work with Area Manager to exchange information with
customers, supervisors, and others in order to resolve
problems.Establish and adjust work methods to meet work
schedules.Interpret job orders and company policies for rail team
workers.Demonstrate equipment or work methods to new
employees.Assign tasks to workers and coordinate work with Area
Manager.Assist workers in performing tasks.Patrol work areas and
check tools and equipment to detect safety problems.Inspect raw
materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or
breakdowns.Inspect work to verify that it meets standards.Recommend
or enact measures to motivate employees and improve work
methods.Assist Area Manager in resolving worker problems.Recommend
and assist Area Manager to review operations to make production
estimates and check current production rates.Must have the
following leadership traits: Leads by example, decision maker,
plans and executes autonomously and mentors others.Must be able to
maintain acceptable attendance in a flexible work schedule.Properly
follow & promote all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for
safe working procedures and environment.Must maintain at all times
a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.Must be
available to travel and work at multiple construction sites within
your geographic region.May perform other duties including but not
limited to operating equipment.Must possess a professional attitude
while interacting with peers, contractors and general
public.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily according to CYD guidelines and standards.
-Education/ExperienceTwo years of related experience preferred.
-Work RequirementsMust pass pre-employment physical, drug screen,
criminal background check and driving record review.Must be willing
to work flexible schedule including: nights, weekends and holidays
when necessary.Must be legally authorized to work in The United
States.Must demonstrate a strong commitment to -safety.Regular and
timely attendance is required.Certifications required for the
facility are required for the position. Related certifications
include but are not limited to Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, and
MSHA Foreman depending on specific terminal operations. Employee
may be held in developmental position until all certifications are
obtained.Knowledge/Skill RequirementsAbility to understand and
follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to effectively
communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to use basic tools.
