please review this tip sheet . The Supervisor, Anesthesia assumes
responsibility for the shift operations, staff coverage, and
activities of the Anesthesia Technology Department, according to
the standards set up by the American Society of Anesthesia
Technologists and Technicians (ASATT). Demonstrates ability to
organize and coordinate all the functions of the department: airway
management and ventilation, fluids, whole blood and blood component
management, pharmacology, pathophysiology and anesthesia
management, utilization of biotechnology and monitoring equipment,
and supply management. Adheres to the UHealth and unit level
policies and procedures and actively participates in performance
improvement activities.
- Manages the shift operations of the anesthesia technology
department, working under the direction of the Department Manager
and the anesthesia care providers.
- Ensures efficient and cost-effective performance in accordance
with department operating budgets, goals, and objectives.
- Participates in staff recruitment and retention of
personnel.
- Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment,
supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions,
demonstrating operational familiarity in relation to critical and
non-critical equipment.
- Performs quality controls with various anesthesia machines to
include reactions to device alarms, troubleshooting, testing, and
diagnosis.
- Maintains effective communication with members of the UHealth
medical staff, medical directors, administrative team, and surgical
and perioperative services leaders.
- Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the
internal controls within the unit and compliance with university
policies and procedures. -
- Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function
and on university policy and procedures.This list of duties and
