GI Technician, GI Station/Operating Room, FT, Days - Miami,
FloridaDescription Position Summary: The GI Technician performs
specialized work in assisting in upper and lower endoscopic
procedures. Employees in this classification are responsible for
assisting with the preparation of GI rooms/suites/patient care
areas for procedures, positioning patients prior to procedures,
maintaining operational readiness of endoscopic equipment and
instrumentation, and performing High Level Disinfection, scope
reprocessing, and maintaining accurate records for all phases of
scope use and reprocessing.Duties & Responsibilities: Provides
assistance to physicians and registered nurses with upper and lower
endoscopic procedures using approved aseptic techniques. Assists
with positioning patients prior to procedures, and assist with
placing devices to monitor vital signs on patients, including blood
pressure cuffs, cautery grounding pads, cardiac monitoring
electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas (as directed
by the team). Assists in all complicated cases including but not
limited to dilatations, motility catheter placements, and balloon
enteroscopies. Provides support during various procedures,
including but not limited to pH probe procedures. Handles specimens
collected during procedures, ensuring accurate labeling and handing
off to the appropriate team member. Performs all aspects of
endoscope care as needed, including but not limited to cleaning at
the point of use, decontamination, leak testing, and High Level
Disinfection (HLD). Utilizes automatic endoscopic reprocessing
(AER) machines per manufacturer guidelines and facility policy.
Assists with the preparation GI rooms/suites before and after
procedures as directed. Maintain endoscopic equipment and
instrumentation, and perform pillcam calibration. Transports
scopes, maintain appropriate inventory, accurately complete
required documentation, and utilize GI software programs as
applicable, including PROVATION and/or MMS Motility equipment.
Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values

other related job duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience:
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.Education:
High school diploma is required.License Certification: GI
Technician through the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and
Associates (SGNA) certification preferred. American Heart
Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
certification with at least 6 months validity required.Knowledge
Skill Abilities: Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work
accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate
effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle
difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise
sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job
appropriate technology and software applications.Physical Demands:
Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to
carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move
objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate
devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to
perform activities related to extended use of computers. Additional

Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast paced
environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful

Exposure to various environments such as: communicable diseases,
toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions
common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also be
exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases,
X-Ray, chemical exposures and other potential hazards. Must wear
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to
infectious/clinical hospital environment. Reasonable accommodations
