Responsibilities
BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for the oversight of channel sales
efforts across major District Market Access's (DMAs) in the
assigned region, including oversight of the management of travel
agency sales and marketing partnerships. Lead a team of Regional
Key Account Directors & Regional Sales & Marketing Managers to
drive brand awareness, manage existing partnerships, and develop
new business opportunities within the travel trade. Must develop
and implement marketing strategy and plans, performance tracking &
return on promotional investment strategies to ensure region's
travel partners are growing at or above the company's annual growth
targets. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and execute, in
conjunction with Regional Key Account Directors & Regional Sales &
Marketing Managers, broad regional sales and marketing strategies
to achieve and maximize sales objectives and profitable revenue
growth. Develop sales and marketing strategies with top retail
accounts to effectively grow channel revenue. Negotiate terms for
regional agreements, developing and executing marketing plans and
expenditures, and leveraging opportunities both on a tactical and
strategic level. Conduct regional analysis and ROI of promotional
programs; leveraging regional budget and incremental marketing fund
opportunities to encourage increased support and engagement of our
brand within the regional sales strategies. Ensure sales team is
leveraging regional and HQ marketing expertise to execute assigned
travel partners in "Marketing to Fill" sales strategy. Manage a
substantial regional budget within guidelines to include travel,
entertainment, coop, advertisement and promotions for sales team
and review total budget at the end of each month. Be flexible in
changing planned investments due to changing company needs
throughout the year. Manage & determine sale team individual
budgets, provide robust analysis, reporting and support as it
pertains to regional and key account's performance and strategy.
Provide reporting and analysis to both internal and external
customers, execute on marketing strategies, and represent company
at conferences, on sales calls with travel agencies, and at
regional and national meetings. Recommend long and short-term
actions to maximize revenue as well as provide necessary reports
and competitive insights to facilitate decision-making by senior
management. Develop and elevate the Norwegian brand amongst North
American agencies by driving brand messaging and the Norwegian
Partners & Guests First promises. Perform other job-related
functions as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related
field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant
background and/or sales experience EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of field
sales experience, preferably in the travel industry. Experience
managing and leading a sales team required. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to lead and coach a sales team to meet or
exceed targets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
including the ability to present strategy and results to team
members at every level of the organization. Strong knowledge of
Microsoft Office Suite to include intermediate to advanced level
skills with Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint as well as Zoom/Go
To meeting platforms. Strong knowledge of current and developing
Social Media platforms. Knowledge of or ability to learn Norwegian
reservation systems such as Seaware and Seaweb and e-commerce
channels. Have excellent communication skills as well as an overall
understanding of working directly with agency owners, marketing
professionals and front-line travel advisors. Proven ability to
implement contracts using superior negotiation and presentation
skills. Ability to adapt to a quickly changing sales environment;
ability to shift priorities per business and/or regional demands.
Strong analytical skills sufficient to translate revenue results
and effectively manage regional budget and forecasting. Ability to
prepare and analyze cost of sale results. Interpersonal skills to
work effectively in a team-based environment. Business acumen to
combine product knowledge and understand dynamics of profitability.
Business acumen to maintain knowledge of market and competitive
trends within the travel and cruise industry. Possess the ability
to foster and maintain business relationships and drive results.
Excellent verbal and written command of English sufficient to
support sales team & travel partners with questions/issues as well
as to effectively diffuse situations whenever necessary. Ability to
travel within region, nationally and internationally, hold a valid
state driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. Ability
to work evenings and/or weekends. Ability to bend and lift up to 30
lbs. to pack and transport marketing collateral to travel agents,
with reasonable accommodation. Ability to stand for long periods of
time for presentations and provide walking tours for client's
onboard vessels, with reasonable accommodation.
